Ipswich Junior Grammar School
Ipswich, Queensland
We had lots of fun designing the nature play area at Ipswich Junior Grammar School. There had been a steel playground at the school for many years which had served students well over the years, but it was time to design a fabulous nature play area at the bottom of their school oval and say goodbye to the old play unit.
We spent time with the school discussing their wish list, and we were pleased when we were able to incorporate all their ideas and bring their vision to life. There are places to run, balance, hide, crawl, climb and even get a little wet!! We wanted it to feel like a place you would like to ‘hang out’ with your new play mates to explore and play. To achieve this we installed a teepee some bridges, a creek and water pump. We even added ‘bush tucker thyme’, rosemary and a bay leaf bush to add some smells near the teepee. A yarning circle and hand carved and painted totem poles make the area inviting and a place for the children of Ipswich Grammar to enjoy for years to come.
