Raven Street Reserve
Chermside West, Queensland
We love it when the council provide us with a brief that incorporates nature play, that ignites our creative thinking and allows us to do what we do best.
We were therefore thrilled to read the brief from Brisbane City Council about designing and constructing a new playground at Raven Street Reserve. Before starting the design we set out to learn a little more about the community around the Park.
The Chermside Hills Reserves are an important part of the Mountains to Mangroves Corridor which is a wildlife corridor that extends from the D’Aguilar Ranges to Boondall Wetlands and Moreton Bay. The reserves are mostly open eucalypt forest with more than 200 native plant species including grass trees, banksias, stringybarks, bloodwoods and spotted gums.
So we knew that we had to design something that not only complemented the reserve, but would also inspire and spark the curiosity of all those that visit.
It is well worth spending some time here. There are picnic and toilet facilities as well as a visitors centre. We hope that the local community love it as much as we do.
