Sherwood Community Kindy asked whether we could revamp their outdoor play area. They wanted a mud patch, mud kitchen and two new stainless steel water pumps. We worked within their budget by using the existing sink, keeping the existing water course but amending it so that the water would divert towards the mud pit. We added a screen behind the mud kitchen to hide the water tank, and a little timber bridge to entice the children to cross into the mud pit. We also added a couple of benches, shade tolerant turf and some new mud and rocks into the mud pit. Amazing how a tired area can be revamped to a wonderful, inviting play space.
